The Law 13/1982 of 7 April, on the Social Integration of the Disabled establishes that public and private companies employing more than 50 workers must contract a number of disabled workers accounting for no less than 2%.
The Alternative Measures are the options that the Law offers companies with 50 or more workers which are bound by the reserve quota of 2% of their staff comprising personnel with disabilities but which for exceptional reasons are unable to comply with this obligation. (RD. 27/2000). These alternative measures consist of:
- The purchase of goods and/or services from a Special Employment Centre (CEE).
- The contracting of a self-employed disabled worker.
- The donation or sponsoring of an organisation whose social aim is the professional training, workplace integration and creation of jobs for disabled people.
- The setting up of a Work Enclave.
